Do you check all classes when conducting a search, or just in the class of my proposed mark?
We conduct our searches for both trademarks and service marks in all classes and categories, not just the class of your proposed mark. This covers you in all areas of business, giving you the most extensive information. This information will make you aware of what other products and services your name is being used for, enabling you to determine the availability of your name for future expansion.

Do you only check exact matches, or do you check variations too?
Creative Trademark Services will research not only your exact mark, but we investigate variations, similarities, truncations, homonyms, spelling differences, and language translations of your proposed mark, as they may all cause a potential conflict with your mark.

When conducting a state search, do you check all states or just the state I am doing business in?
Our searches are conducted in all 50 US states and Puerto Rico. Not just the location state of your proposed mark.

What is the end product you provide me with?
You will receive a full trademark search report. It will contain an alphabetical listing of all currently registered, pending, abandoned, canceled and expired trademarks and service marks similar to your proposed mark. We will also conduct what is called a wild card search, where we not only search your exact name, but variations of the mark. All marks that we find similar to your proposed mark will be investigated further so we may supply you with full details on those marks: owner of mark, status, goods/services, registration number, date of registration and contact address. We will also provide you with a summary letter, with details explaining the results that were found in each category, making it simple for you to determine your name's availability.

Can I conduct my own search at the library?
Yes, you can go to an appointed patent and trademark depository library that offers this service. However, not only is this information usually extremely outdated, but they only have information available on federal registrations. You cannot conduct a thorough search consisting of state registrations and common law rights. And if you don't have a thorough understanding of intellectual property, including International classes, variations of marks and conflicting statuses, it is impossible to conduct a thorough enough search to recover all of the potentially conflicting marks Our knowledgeable research team is available to answer all of your questions and our search prices start at just $75.00.
